Working with WRAP

Waste and Resources Action Programme's (WRAP) role is to help and support businesses and individuals to reap the benefits  of reducing waste and using resources in a more efficient way. Based in the UK and a government funded organisation, they offer help to businesses and local authorities through funding, training and consultation in the pursuit of better environmental practices.

WRAP provides large amounts of funding to help local authorities start, maintain and promote recycling and responsible waste disposal. As specialists in the marketing of these services Get It Sorted has a comprehensive track record of producing successful campaigns for WRAP and its clients.

Communications support

Get it Sorted has been a WRAP framework contractor for the last six years and we have been involved in numerous communications projects, such as:

  • Communications plans for local authorities and partnership to introduce new services, increase recycling rates, reduce contamination, introducing services in hard to reach areas and for the promotion of waste reduction
  • Development of design guidelines by integrating the Recycle Now branding into the local authorities own visual identity
  • Development of various guidance documents for: communications planning, design principles, print guidance, review of Recycle Now iconography, WRAP recycling campaigns etc.
  • Other work has included: Design and print of training material, website reviews, scoping of communications needs for local authorities, development and delivery of workshops and development of flats recycling promotional material.

Training

Get it Sorted has worked with WRAP to develop and deliver a series of WRAP courses for the Advanced Level Training Programme for waste managers.  This includes providing support to delegates, management of e-learning and marking assignments.  Courses currently being delivered are:

  • Design - which informs delegates how to work with designers and to develop promotional material which will have the most impact
  • Communications planning and design - which includes the development of communications plans whilst integrating the design course into one comprehensive package

WRAP provides these course free to local authorities with the aim of equipping delegates with the knowledge that will help them to use their communications resources in the most effective way.

Feedback from the courses, the development in the council staffs work and the success in their marketing campaigns have all proven these courses a great success.

Conclusion

Working in partnership with WRAP, Get It Sorted is propagating the skills that help local authorities to perform more efficiently and to ultimately make a difference to the delivery of their services and our environment.
