Southern Waste
Management Partnership
Northern Ireland's Southern Waste Management Partnership (SWaMP2008) is a partnership comprising eight of Northern Ireland local authorities to the South of Belfast. Together they serve over 500,000 residents. Realising effective waste management across this number of people can be a challenge.
We were approached to produce brand and design guidelines that would convey a strong and consistent brand to service users across the partnership. As well as producing the guidelines we were also asked to produce service information for a number of the councils.
A strong set of guidelines and a range of campaign materials will ensure that SWaMP2008 maintains a strong visual identity for many years.
Identity guidelines
Identity guidelines set out clear guidance for everything from colour schemes, fonts, literature design and the development of campaigns. This guidance guarantees consistency of quality and brand recognition.
Design and identity guidelines distributed in books and interactive .pdf's to all participant councils
Posters
It's important to remember that advertising doesn't have to be literal. These targeted and aspirational designs can have just as much impact as pictures of recycling activities.

Adshel design
Billboard design
These posters also have the advantage of being easily transferred to other advertising from magazine to bus shelter to billboard.
Service introduction poster
Combined with service roll out posters it is possible to both educate and change attitudes to recycling.
Literature
From calendars to recycling guides consistency creates recognition and most importantly trust.

Displays
These pop up displays are used in both permanent positions and in road shows where face to face discussions with the public help to impart information and receive feed back in return.
