Sandwell Metropolitan
Borough Council

Serving over 290,000 people Sandwell Metropolitan Borough Council (SMBC) is a major provider in the West Midlands. From leaflets to livery we have helped them to deliver their message. For a comprehensive investigation of how we helped Sandwell and Serco in a major service change take a look at our Sandwell service change case study. Alternatively here are a few examples of our work:

Summer campaign

With a target to raise recycling rates across the borough we were commissioned to create a comprehensive campaign. This involved taking advantage of a wide range of advertising possibilities, including car park tickets, posters, livery, billboards, posters, magazine and newspaper advertising, adshells and flyers.

Garden waste

A whole range of media was used for the introduction of their garden waste services, including: bus and metro advertising, billboards and Adshels, vehicle livery, leaflets and collection calendars.

Targeted recycling survey

To help increase participation in recycling these leaflets were targeted at households in low performing recycling areas.  The Freepost card allowed householders to request a box if they did not have one or provide feedback to the Council. This information helped to guide further localised campaigns to increase recycling in these areas.

Winter campaign

With the success of the Summer campaign the same concept was continued throughout the Winter to further increase recycling participation.

Christmas tree collections

To counter unnecessary landfill and dumping of Christmas trees Sandwell organised collection days from households. The trees were then composted. Advertising ranged from pop ups to posters.
