A focus on food waste
Many councils are now introducing food waste and household organics collections to reduce the amount of biodegradable waste they send to landfill and achieve their LATS targets. We have been involved with WRAP since the start of food waste collections and have carried out the following work on their behalf:
- Development of promotional material for the promotion of food waste service introduction. We produced a number of concepts and content which was consumer tested and the most successful one chosen
- Support to local authorities in the first trial phase of the introduction of food waste collection services. Around 20 local authorities ware involved with these trials and we customised and printed material for most of them
- Photography for food waste which is available from the Recycle Now Partners website. There was a lack of good images of food waste and WRAP asked us to provide a range
- Support to local authorities in the second phase of the introduction of food waste collection services. This is ongoing at present
- Development of commercial food waste collection promotional material working with the City of London. Templates will be available on the Recycle Now Partners website in 2011
- In addition to our own designs the application of the Love Food Hate Waste campaign when requested.
The promotional material developed for the first phase of the food waste trials was very well received and we continue to use it, or elements of it, to introduce food waste services. We have introduced food waste collections for a number of authorities recently, including:
- East Devon District Council
- Milton Keynes Council
- Stroud District Council
- Tewkesbury District Council
- Wolverhampton City Council
We understand the operational issues facing local authorities whether the collections are separate or combined with garden waste and also a combination of both in the same area. Please give us a call and discuss your issues, we have a very broad range of experience you will be able to draw on for your household organics and food waste recycling campaigns.
